Aims and Scope

The Journal of Epidemiology is an open-access, peer-reviewed international journal that publishes high-quality articles addressing a broad range of topics in epidemiology and social medicine pertaining to the health of populations worldwide. The breadth of the epidemiology field is reflected in the range of research articles and opinion pieces we publish, including descriptive, analytical, and interventional studies related to both communicable and non-communicable diseases and their determinants, systematic reviews/meta-analyses, epidemiological methods, and health services research.

As the official international journal of the Japan Epidemiological Association, manuscripts are received from around the world, with about 60% of submissions coming from countries/regions outside Japan. The Journal of Epidemiology welcomes submissions from all regions of the world, including the Asia-Pacific region, and continuously strives to provide a balanced representation of impactful epidemiological research to its readership across diverse populations.

The journal was first published in December 1991. Currently it publishes twelve monthly issues containing approximately 80 original articles annually.
