WCE2024ご参加の皆様へのご案内と注意事項

１．西太平洋地域ミーティングへのお誘い（朝食付き）
国際疫学会西太平洋地域の会員の集まりを以下の予定で開催します。これまでの活動のご報告と、次年度以降の活動についての意見交換や各国学会の紹介などを行う予定です。
西太平洋地域の国外の研究者とのネットワークづくりにもなると思いますので、多数の皆様のご参加をお待ちしております。詳細は学会プログラムをご覧ください。

会場準備の関係上、ご参加希望の方は（できましたら）9月16日までにご登録ください。（直前の変更連絡も可能になりますので、よろしくお願いします。）

２．ケープタウン滞在中の注意について

A general reminder regarding the need to remain vigilant and aware in the vicinity of the Convention Center. Both the US and Canada have specific travel warnings regarding the areas around the Westin, and it would be advantageous to take a moment to review your country’s information regarding travel to Cape Town as well.
While Cape Town has much to offer visitors and is a wonderful destination, it shares the same risk of violent crime as many other central business districts around the world. Unfortunately, large meetings such as the WCE2024 and the WHO meeting pose attractive opportunities for criminal elements, so some caution is urged for your explorations.
If you can, please take a moment to register your arrival and departure with your embassy in South Africa. This is always recommended as a best practice as it notates your presence and enables your government to provide direct guidance, alerts and concerns. (For example, the US has a Smart Traveler Enrollment Program – STEP – to enable the embassy to locate citizens in an emergency.)
Other “common sense” suggestions include:

Removing your name badge when not attending Congress sessions to disassociate yourself from ‘tourist’ or ‘convention’ groups;
Traveling only in groups after dark;
Research your routes to restaurants, etc. prior to departure from the hotel;
Avoiding settlement areas unless you are with someone from the area; and
Pre-arranging your airport transfers in advance of your arrival (use this link: Quality Touring Services).
