Shiga University of Medical Science

The 34th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Epidemiology will be held at the Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel from January 31 (Wed.) to February 2 (Fri.), 2024.

The main theme of this Annual Meeting is "Epidemiology Creates Future Society“. It is still in our minds that a great deal of epidemiological data was used in the global pandemic of COVID-19 in the past few years. In addition, "big data" has been accumulated from all over society, and its analysis using AI has been progressing rapidly. At the same time, global environmental issues such as climate change, as well as food and energy problems, which have been more exacerbated by the situation in Ukraine, are becoming global-scale problems that have been a serious for the survival and health of the human population.

Thus, the challenges that epidemiology must address are ever-changing. In this meeting, we hope to discuss what role epidemiology will play in creating the society in the future, and to provide an opportunity for young researchers who will lead the next generation to discover new challenges.

We hope that researchers will come to the site to engage in face-to-face discussions, talk with each other, and deepen our friendship. We are preparing to hold the Hybrid meetings so that various forms of participation will be possible. We welcome entry many abstract presentations and attend the meeting.

Otsu are located two stops away from Kyoto by local train, which takes only 10 minutes. The venue of the Meeting is right in front of the beautiful Lake Biwa where you will be able to relax after a hard day's work. There are many places of interest nearby, such as Ishiyamadera-temple, famous for Murasaki Shikibu, Miidera-temple, and Hieizan.

We look forward to seeing you all in Otsu.
